Three Sisters Play Space Engineers S2E01

Ashley: No sense in formal titles now, we don’t have a ship. Misha, Gwen and I are stranded yet again and this one’s gonna hurt.

Our Lovely Ship Just Before Crashing

Premise: It’s not permadeath, but it is required to have an up and running medical station or survival kit and this isn’t guaranteed at the start.

The scenario is to crash a ship at 150m/s and scavenge whatever is there for good or bad, it’s complete RNG.

We’re using “Industrial Overhaul 1.4” which completely overhauls the game to make it way harder and more “realistic” in the early game, but speeds up the end game considerably. Instead of just an assembler, there’s tons of power hungry machines and they’re huge, but they’re fast. So it’ll take a bit of work to get them up and running, but once they are it’s very reasonable, assuming you can generate enough power.

Ashley: So we lost again to those lousy pirates, and you know what, I’m not even mad because we crippled them at the last minute and they didn’t get us or our ship… technically no one got our ship.

Ashley: Listen up ladies, the good news is: we have our tools, we have some random stuff, and weapons, so we should survive. This planet looks desolate, so we shouldn’t have any issues with pirates or drones, but we should be prepared before we leave. The objective is to get off this rock and back to civilized space with a ship capable of defending itself. We’ve been picking up signals all over the place, so this planet is on the list to get colonized and we’re seeing probe drops on a regular basis, so we can definitely use those as long as we have a reliable source of fuel for our jetpacks–hiking out to a self-destructing probe isn’t practical. The bad news is: we got we have our tools and some random stuff, so basically nothing, not even a buggy.

Misha: I’m so excited!

Gwen: Mhm, we’ll get through this!

Ashley: We’ve designed a starting buggy with materials we can get right off the bat.

Misha: I love it.

Ashley: This is Bear-Free design, he was really twitching when I stuck four giant exposed engines on it, but his starting craft was basically worthless, so I told him to stick it. This one is a great little starter, it’s stable, it’s strong with six-wheel drive and it’s light. I just hope we get enough off the crashed ship to make it, there’s some things here that are going to be really hard to get otherwise.

Here’s what we need to make it.

Gwen: Let’s go!

  1. “This is a Bear-free design”

Is a quote that’s so context specific but will forever have a rent free space in my heart.

I’ve never played space engineers before. So this blog is my first exposure to the gameplay of it. (My computer can’t run 3D games)

    1. [Ashley] It’s a really fun game, and very addictive. The issue is that you need a modern video card and a good amount of ram to play it. There’s a lot of MOD support too so you can really configure it to your liking.

I’m glad you’re enjoying the series!
