Three Sisters Really Enjoyed Themselves Playing Rimworld – Queen of the North S1-END

Final Base:

“This is endgame, after this, we’re free from the toil of defending this base and we can flex our position on the political stage. Inviting the Stellarch isn’t just about status, it’s about power and credibility.”

Aprimay 15th, 5056, high noon – Ashley (Day 360)

Here we go. The Stellarch arrives with a really bad mood, he’s frail, and has a bad back. He’s also deaf in one ear and 50% blind in both eyes. He brought no guards, which was actually very easy for us then because we didn’t suffer the penalty of more people.

12 days of hell inbound.

First thing we had to do was replace his silent jaw with a real jaw. That was a +15 mood straight off the bat. On top of everything else, he needs to stay happy during his stay. We had just enough time to do that when the raid arrived.

Pirates are a funny bunch. They’re often cocky and arrogant, but this time they were all drunk. Though they had 57 against us with rockets and bombs, they didn’t stand a chance. For most of these raids we used a combination of swarmers from our mortars and letting them waltz into our killbox where they’re slaughtered.

Sieges are no different. As soon as they have their supplies airdropped, we mortar them and usually we hit their ammo and it’s over for them.

There were a couple of surprises, like when they brought a fusion bomb that would be capable of taking out a third of our base or our whole killbox in one boom.

“2nd Jugust, 0600, Pirate raid, 83 of them. I’m still not too worried… well wait a minute. One of them brought a fusion device, big bomb. We need to swarm that one immediately.”

After a pretty tough fight where the bomber in question actually made it into our killbox, a little focus fire made him irrelevant fast. He had his chance.

Swarmers were somewhat ineffective, there’s just too many of them. Luckily he didn’t set off his bomb in out killbox or we’d have been seriously harmed. So many bodies clogged the killbox that it was decided to let the killbox burn out all the bodies in place.

At one point, a bulk goods trader arrived with 40 wildmen. It was something that we watched with confusion as these wildmen ate the swarmers’ ate the corpses of the dead and puked all over the battlefield. They were neutral but any of them who strayed into our killbox were captured.

On the 4th of Jugust, zero hour, we were awakened by two simultaneous pirate raids. 60 sappers and 61 siegers. The sappers took priority because they headed straight for our right flank and splitting our forces would be really bad news. Luckily three of us on swarmer fire killed their main diggers fast enough to route them. Then the siegers picked a fight with the wildmen and 20 of them were downed before they could even set up the mortars. Funny how that worked out.

The worst of that raid was when they unleashed a doomsday rocket at us and it hit the embrasures. Luckily we had spares but one of Dave’s legs was blown off and one arm was left hanging by a thread.

It got tense and they made it about 2/3 up the killbox allowing them to take a few pot shots at us.

Less than six hours after the start of this double raid, we hadn’t even repaired yet, and we had more sappers arrive. We were tired and getting cranky and this was our third raid in six hours. Dave hadn’t even made it half way back to his pod before then so I ordered him to turn around and get back down to the killbox. This stretched us to our limit and it looked grim, but there was so much loot on the battlefield they just took supplies left over from the siegers and left. We all sighed a breath of relief from that because we were all exhausted, injured and hungry.

We were given a 23 hour respite before the next raid, and in that time we mostly recovered. Of note in this raid was when they triple-rocketed their own and a third of their force was taken out in an instant.

The next few raids were inconsequential, after that triple raid, single raids were no real threat. Then came the 24hour mark. It had been too easy and too quiet, we knew something big was coming. Then we got a breach warning, but from where? Mechs, our first mech raid so far, and they landed randomly all over our base. We had to split up and take out singular mechs without the benefit of a killbox. It took Gwen and I to take out one hulk and others took sneaky shots from behind embrasures while they were distracted by turrets. In the midst of this, sappers arrived. We had to clear this mech infestation first, but we managed with minimal damage. The sappers made it through about 5 layers of outer walls before we were able to pound them with mortars. That was fun in retrospect though I almost got caught by that hulk.

On August 12th, 5506 the Stellarch’s shuttle arrived and the raids were finally over.

Last Entry – Jugust 12th, 5506 – Ashley (Day 372 – 6 years and 12 days)

“WE DID IT! YAY! After this, no lowly raider would dare offend us. Even the mechs won’t bother anymore. It’ll be peace…

…and with peace comes boredom. Hey, I’m Revian, so I need action and my Revian sisters agree. We’ll have to branch off and make new queendoms on new worlds, leaving our legacy in the hands of our teams as we conquer the galaxy. Go fourth now my vassals, take what you want and go found your own lands or stay here and make a life out of the fruits of our labors. You are all kings of the mountain, we’re sitting on 1.2 million in wealth and we’re unstoppable.

Love to you all, and TO WAR!!!”

All cheer

We all entered the shuttle and safely exited the region to the flotilla where we will determine our own fates. Some will stay, some will go off and conqure their own rimworlds.

  1. Hey so I know I’m late to commenting this, but I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed your Rimworld series.

I liked reading your new episodes after I get of work because I love both Rimworld and Tulpa.

This blog got me back into the game and I’m glad I did because it’s changed quite a bit since I last played!

I’m glad to see that the colony finally got a good ending after all the struggle and almost bleeding to death they’ve gone through.

Also long lived Dave, you might have spent a year in bed missing limbs, but you came out a cyborg badass and I respect that.

    1. Lol, thanks. We didn’t get this notification apparently. We might do something again, but we played Rimworld a lot and a break is warranted.

We haven’t figured out what to play next, and it probably won’t be soonish. We loved Rimworld and our modlist made it fun. We need them to update it with some new gameplay (or modded gameplay). It got too min/max for us in the run we had right after this one.
