Three Sisters Play Space Engineers and Find a New Home S2E04

Gwen: We carefully mapped some deposits and here’s what we have so far:

Found: Iron, Nickel, Gold, Oil Sand, Copper, Bauxite, Titanium, and Coal

Missing: Silicone, Silver, Cobalt, Lithium, Niter

Gwen: All of the remaining ones have a 1 in 20 chance so it’s not going to be very easy, so our next objectives are to set up our base, build up a flying scout/mining ship, and continue mapping.

Gwen: We set up an initial stone mining operation, we have a large refinery, gravel sifter, H2 generator, and nearly enough power to run it all at once. That’ll get us small amounts of everything we need for a while until we need anything in greater quantities, then we’ll be needing to go mine other resources.

Ashley: As far as mass production, we have a plan for that too, but we’ll see how it goes. The idea is to set up mining refineries in all those areas, but the big refinery needs 3MW of power so that’s at least 6 wind turbines. That’s a lot of investment just to make trucking ore easier. Still it’s not a bad idea and we might do that.

Misha: Our old base kept the wolves at bay, but this new one is more exposed, so we might need to set up base defenses just to pew pew those wolves. We have a little niter from the gravel sifting and that’ll be enough to keep us in ammunition. I remember we dismantled at least one light gun turret, so we can use those parts to make one here.

Ashley: Looks like the pirates are leaving us alone for now. There’s been a bit of activity lately but we got within 2km of them and they couldn’t care less. Maybe they’ll leave us alone for a while.

Ashley: My Queendom for some plastic. We need some displays… still and we have everything we need in terms of machinery to make it except plastic. So how do you make plastic, easy, we have a machine for that and we simply need carbon, ice and sulfur. Carbon comes from coal, no problem, ice is easy, but in terms of sulfur, we have no sulfur. In fact there’s no sulfur deposits on this planet. Okay, plan B, we need a giant machine called a Bitumen Extractor and oil sand–we know where oil sand is–then we can get crude oil. With crude oil and another huge machine called an oil cracker we can make polymer and that will convert to plastic in the Synthetics factory. Check, check, check.

Gwen: All this for a display?

Misha: Up until now, I’ve been designating the placement of things and stuffs underground and there’s a lot of room with all our digging for stone, but these huge machines may be a bit of an issue because they’re super huge. So I might design a little platform for these big’uns. We’ll also need a rock crusher product chain to get more from our ores, so that’ll be another huge setup. On second thought, up till now we have a neat, clean base which is very important! I don’t want these ugly things cluttering up the place so I might have to get creative underground. These machines are ugly.

Misha: It took a lot of fenagling, but we did it. It’s not pretty, I’m not proud of it, but we’re about to have the next stage of a proper base. (Not Shown) Then we can work on the advanced stuff. We’ll worry about mass production and efficient production later.

Ashley: Got everything, we have oil, but the oil cracker needs 8MW of power and we have ~5, so we need either a big lithium battery or a hydrogen engine. Well, the best bet is the battery, but we have 79/80 of the requires lithium components we’ve salvaged from air drops. We just need one more air drop and we’re golden. We might just do both an engine and the battery, so that’ll be taken care of next.

Here I am parking the buggy

Misha: With all this switching on and off, we need a control panel.

Gwen: But control panels need a display, and there’s no displays…
